Collection of Field Reports

08 January 2009

Location : Union
Night : Thursday
Group : puaedmonton

The Good :
1) Opened three sets; even though I lacked the drive and enthusiasm after the first bad approach
2) Watched Ron Burgandy in action, and I truly believe that if you do go with your first impulse/gut instinct, you will succeed more than over thinking a situation
3) Was with good company

The Bad:

1) Blamed my in-success on the lack of sets. True most targets were hit on 20 times that night, but I should have the mentality that I am truly the prize, and compared to me; these men have nothing to offer - so approach!
2) Went with the mentality to open a set number of sets, rather going in with a fun emotional state of mind. I always feel that I need to impress everyone, and when I don't perform, I feel like I let everyone down - especially myself. This is a horrible mentality to take and slows down my progression dramatically.
3) I let one bad set ruin my night. I began thinking situations where different sets would react the same.
4) Over-usage of indirect openers. Matador pointed out a long time ago - that there is a time to use them and a time to cast them aside. I have to stop latching on to these one liners like life preservers. I need to rely more on myself and get that confidence built inside me that I am a Charismatic Social Human Being.
5) My frame of mind was set to an all new extreme low. It showed through my body language, and the same thoughts of, 'Why bother?' plagued my mind. Unacceptable.

How to Improve:

* Focus on Inner Game for this weekend, read up on some material
* Do something physical, social and mental before going out
* Live in the 'Now' and not in the 'maybe tomorrow' setting
* Approach for the sakes of approaching, and not to close. Sometimes closes don't mean anything if you're not genuine.
